‘Cash On Delivery’ is a hilarious farce by Michael Cooney. Michael has obviously inherited the farcical skills of his famous actor/playwright father, Ray Cooney, who in fact directed the first West End production in 1996.
This is a very fast moving comedy about benefit fraud, combining a traditional British bawdiness with structural complications as characters leap to assumptions, are forced to pretend to be things they aren’t, and often talk at cross purposes to hilarious effect.
The play includes multiple impersonations, an escaping corpse, cross-dressing and an exploding washing machine! The audience will be hard-pressed to follow the intricate plot but will be laughing too hard to notice!
